Content
Moving from WordPress
InsightSite borrows what WordPress does well for content (scheduled publishing, revisions, categories and tags, plugins) and migrates a WordPress site in one go.
Concepts
| WordPress | InsightSite |
|---|---|
| posts / pages | posts / pages (posts.type); products are a separate content type |
| scheduled (future) | scheduled: published by cron at the set time, firing content.published |
| revisions | a snapshot before every edit, preview and one-click restore, newest 30 kept |
| plugins | runtime plugins (online install) + package plugins (Nuxt layers) |
| themes | the site project overrides app/pages, app/layouts and components |
| Tools → Import / Export | Admin → Tools: WordPress import, JSON backup and restore |
| Yoast-style SEO plugins | per-item SEO fields, multilingual sitemap and AI GEO built in |
Steps
- In WordPress, Tools → Export → All content, and download the
.xmlfile. - In InsightSite, Admin → Tools → Import from WordPress: choose the file, the target language, whether to keep publish states, and whether to skip or overwrite items with the same slug.
- Start the import. The file is parsed in your browser and uploaded in batches, so large sites do not time out.
- Check the report: created / updated / skipped posts, pages and categories, plus attachment notes.
Titles, slugs (URLs stay the same, which preserves SEO), bodies, excerpts, dates, categories, tags and publish states are kept. Gutenberg block comments are removed and classic-editor line breaks become paragraphs.
Attachments still point at the old site; re-upload them in the media library or sync the files to R2 / OSS / COS with your storage tool.
Backup and restore
Admin → Tools → Download backup exports all content as JSON (secrets excluded). Restores match items by natural keys such as slug + language, never by database ids, so a whole site can move between D1, SQLite, PostgreSQL and MySQL.
